Tropical Weather Outlook for the WEB: Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico

Current Conditions

As of 200 AM EDT on Tuesday, July 30, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, FL, reports no active tropical cyclones in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico.

Outlook

The NHC is monitoring several areas of disturbed weather that have the potential to develop into tropical cyclones in the coming days. One area of interest is located in the central tropical Atlantic Ocean, about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The NHC gives this system a 20% chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm within the next 48 hours and a 40% chance over the next five days. Another area of concern is in the southern Gulf of Mexico, just off the coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The NHC gives this system a 10% chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm within the next 48 hours and a 20% chance over the next five days.
